The iMRS 2000 and Bemer therapy systems are the two top selling full body PEMF therapy devices worldwide. Both use lower and safer intensities and both have a full body mat and local applicators along with several accessories.
The comparisons that follow use technical specs from both companies directly. The main specs are the frequencies, the intensities and the waveforms used.
Information below from iMRS Users manual and Bemergroup.com website and FAQ pdf, here.
So the iMRS 2000 has FOUR frequency settings in the .5-15 Hz range and Bemer has only two frequencies ranging from 10 -33 Hz.
Most research on PEMF signals consistently shows that frequencies in the range of 0-50 Hz, especially 0-30 Hz have the greatest therapeutic value.
Both the iMRS 2000 and BEMER are roughly in this range but the iMRS 2000 has 4 settings and is more closely aligned to the circadian rhythms of the body (see next section). The BEMER is a little on the high side and doesn't hit the theta and delta frequencies for ideal sleep Make sure to check out the Book, PEMF - The 5th Element of Health (chapter 5) for a detailed look at the body mind-earth-connection and the 0-30 Hz frequency range.
The iMRS has a built-in biorhythm clock using the frequencies listed in the last section of .5, 3, 5.5 and 15 Hz. This is great because it gives you the right frequency for the time of day.
For example, in the morning you’re getting primarily around 15 Hz, which is a healthy Beta brain-state frequency. This helps to wake you up and energize you so you can be more alert in the morning and early part of the day (to get work done and to be mentally sharp and alert.
In the evening programs it uses primarily more of the Delta/Theta frequencies (.5 Hz and 3Hz respectively), which helps you to wind down, relax and get ready for sleep. So, it’s very in tune with your biorhythm, and what you need for the time of day.
The Bemer Classic and Bemer Pro have ONLY two frequency settings of 10 Hz and 33 Hz (straight from their company FAQ brochure). The 33 Hz daytime setting on the Bemer you will notice is above the Beta
The iMRS probe has one thick, copper tightly wound copper coil with many turns all the way from bottom to top. This gives a VERY strong magnetic flux for maximum focus and penetration depth.Intensity range on probe is from .7 - 300 uT (on highest setting)There are 8 intensity settings in this range
Bemer Applicators and Intensity ranges
B.Body is the full body mat
B.Body has purportedly six coils
Intensity Range for B.Body is from 3.5 uT - 35 uT (up to 50 uT with Plus signal).
Bemer B.Body has 10 intensity settings, but note they are all in the 3.5 - 35 uT range.
Standard Bemer PEMF applicators
B.Spot and B.Pad are the local PEMF applicators.
Both have only ONE magnetic coil
Intensity Range for B.Spot and B.Pad 3.5 uT to 100 uT (150 uT with Plus signal).
Also 10 intensity settings but all in 3.5 - 100 uT range.
Conclusion: The iMRS applicators have a better and wider range of intensities than the Bemer applicators. They go both higher and lower.
1) The LOWER settings on the iMRS for sensitive people go down to .09 uT compared to Bemer’s lowest setting of 3.5 uT. That’s 39 times more sensitive!
2) The higher intensities on the iMRS go HIGHER than the Bemer - 70 uT on iMRS compared to 50 uT for Bemer on full body mat and 300 uT compared to 150 uT on probe for local application. So up to two times stronger than Bemer.
3) Plus as we'll see the iMRS 2000 full body mat has a graduated intensity from head to feet which further helps with sensitive people and overall makes the sessions more relaxing and enjoyable.
First, the iMRS 2000 system uses the proven saw tooth waveform on its full body mat which provides the cells with a full-frequency spectrum simultaneously that will resonate with different tissues. As Siskin & Walker showed different tissues in the body respond to different frequencies, primarily within the 0-30 Hz range. When you use a saw tooth and the harmonics of a saw tooth you are getting a broader frequency spectrum.
The great advantage of the sawtooth pulse in comparison with the individual sine pulse for the resonant effect lies precisely in this increased supply of oscillations. Also, a sawtooth waveform provides the maximum impulse or action potential across the cell membrane, which will boost the voltage of the cell (to improve the sodium potassium pump and recharge the TMP). According to Liboff the therapeutic value of a given pulsed signal is highly dependent on how rapidly the rise and fall time happens (Rosch 2004). The rapid rise and fall time represents a high peak voltage value that is responsible for ion displacement in the body and recharging cellular voltage. Greater ion displacement exerts a stronger biological effect. The quintessence of the 20 years of magnetic field research is found in this waveform shape for PEMF therapy.
The sawtooth waveform was first introduced in 1974 by Bassett. Dr Bassett observed that a rapid rise and fall time induces the maximum current in a treated tissue as with the sawtooth. In his research it was the piezoelectric current induced which accelerated bone healing. As a result of Bassett's work, this waveform has been FDA approved in the USA for the treatment of non-union fractures and to aid in spinal fusion operations.

The square wave was the particular waveform that NASA found to be the most effective for healing and regeneration. They found specifically that low intensity, low frequency (around 10 Hz) and a rapid rise and fall (which both the saw tooth and square wave have) was the most ideal signal. In fact, they found that lower intensity worked better than higher intensity, and the lower frequencies worked better than the higher frequencies. And the rapid rise and fall saw tooth and square wave worked better than a sine wave or the more simplistic waveforms that don’t have a rapid rise and fall.
The NASA study concluded, “The most effective electromagnetic field for repair of trauma was square wave with a rapid rate of change (dB/dT) - means the change in the magnetic field intensity with respect to time - which saw cell growth increased up to 4.0 times.” The NASA study further noted that “slowly varying (millisecond pulse, sine wave) or non varying DC (CW lasers, magnets) had little to no effect.”
One of the ways to understand why a rapid rise and fall works better is that you need an abrupt change to create ion transport across the cell membrane to create energy. As an analogy, think of starting a fire with a piece of flint and stone. You strike the stone with the flint quickly and abruptly to create a spark/energy. This is like a sawtooth or squarewave motion.
Using a sine wave (like the Bemer and some other PEMF companies), is akin to slowly rubbing the stone with the flint up and down slowly. You may get some small tiny sparks, but nothing like striking it quickly.
Makes sense right?
Because a changing magnetic field induces an electrical current (or movement of charged particles like Na, K, Ca etc.), having a rapid rise and fall waveform creates the most dramatic flow of energy (think of striking the flint on stone).
The Bemer Signal is essentially a complex sinusoidal waveform and is used on ALL Bemer mats, pads and applicators. It is not a rapid rise and fall like a sawtooth or a squarewave.
Here you can see the Bemer signal and clearly it is a sinusoidal in nature. Towards the far right of the signal it does approach being a rapid rise and fall, but this is only a small part and still a rounded sine wave at the peak.
The iMRS 2000 has three pairs of tightly wound copper coils and this gives you a pure magnetic field. Circular loops with multiple turns need to be tightly wound with no spacing to yield the cleanest and purest pulsating magnetic field possible (example in image is the inside of the iMRS 2000 mat with pure copper, tightly wound circular coils).
Also note that there is more turns at the feet than the head, because the lower body can handle a higher intensity field. This gives a graduated intensity that will give the user the most relaxing and enjoyable healing experience.
This is very important because the legs and feet can handle a higher intensity than the head and neck (which are the most sensitive area). This is much better for people that are chemically sensitive and/or electrosensitive in that the head and neck/thyroid can be easily over-stimulated and irritated.
The iMRS 2000 pillow pad has TWO coils exactly like the ones in the full body mat. Tightly wound, pure copper and many turns for maximum magnetic flux.
The iMRS 2000 Probe is even more focused. It has a thicker copper that is tightly wound with many turns to create a focused and deeply penetrating magnetic field. No other pen, probe, wand or local applicator on the market works as well. Many of the healing stories for pain relief come from using the iMRS probe.
Bemer B.Pad and B.spot
Some of the competitors like the Bemer use basically plastic tubing with copper inside, but they wind it in a way that’s more of a oval and the spacing in between isn’t very tight (like Bemers B.pad), so the field lines bleed off and you’re not getting a pure magnetic field. The purest magnetic field is very tightly-wound, circular coils.
The new Bemer full body mat purportedly has 6 circular coils but they are still surrounded by plastic tubing (see lower image) so not tightly wound and you will still not get a pure magnetic field. Also, the Bemer does not have graduated intensity so if you use a higher setting it may be more irritating towards the head/neck.
The B.Pad, as mentioned uses an oval geometry (see top of image above) which is even less ideal. These images were directly from Bemer.
This is a HUGE advantage of the iMRS 2000 over both the Bemer Classic and Pro. One of the easiest and most effective forms of biofeedback is Heart Rate Variability (HRV), which can be easily and accurately measured through the pulse (finger or ear sensors).
The HUGE benefit of this is that the system will select the intensities automatically based on what YOUR body needs. And because everyone and every body is different, this is far superior than relying on rigid set protocols (like what Bemer does) that are at best educated guesses as to what the body needs.
The iMRS 2000 biofeedback allows the user to relax and the system will automatically adjust the intensity settings which the body needs for that given time and day.
What this means is that the benefits you get with the iMRS 2000 will not decrease or wane over time. There is no need to take time off with the iMRS or cycle it like 5 dayson, two off, etc.
You have probably heard this with drugs, supplements, exercise, etc. If you do the same thing over and over, you plateau and eventually start to decline. That's because your body acclimates or habituates to a set supplement or routine. You need to vary things and mix routines up to if you want to get consistent benefits (this is the basis and success of P90X® exercise).
To give Bemer credit, they do use a varying signal and change polarity AND have two frequency settings so it IS better than static magnetic therapy (static magnetic therapy is the easiest to acclimate to because there is ZERO variation).
However the iMRS 2000 has TWO waveforms (sawtooth and square wave) to Bemer's ONE (Bemer uses same Bemer signal on all pads and applicators), Also the iMRS 2000 has 4 frequencies to and Bemer only has two. This further gives greater variation from day to day.
But most significantly, the iMRS advanced Biofeedback system adjusts the intensity in the mat every two minutes to maximize HRV, which gives your body a unique session each time (and graphs this for you to look at after your session)! For those reasons the iMRS 2000 will give you better, safer & more effective long term results over time with no diminishing returns even if you use it every day.
Both the iMRS 2000 and Bemer have LED applications but both are different. The iMRS used red, green and blue leds with advanced Light and sound technology. The Bemer LED system is just LEDs to be used for pain relief. Both have their advantages, but it should be mentioned there is nothing special about Bemer’s LED technology. In fact, there are many superior LED local applicator systems on the market that can be used with any PEMF device.
The uniqueness of the iSLRS light and sound system of the iMRS is that it is synchronized and integrated with the frequencies used in the mat further helping the body to naturally entrain to its natural circadian rhythms. Bemer B.Light is in no way integrated with the Bemer pads.
The iMRS integrated light and sound system (iSLRS) helps to further bring the mind to deeper relaxation. It’s like a spa for the brain. The iSLRS help to synchronize both hemispheres of the brain for increased relaxation, creativity and overall health while the full body mat recharges and energizes the body. And it is very well documented that meditation and relaxation have extraordinary healing effects. Big advantage to iMRS here.
The iSLRS comes with the following features:
1. Goggles for visual stimulation. Red, blue and green LED's with dimmer switch.
2. Headphones with comfortable around-the-ear design to eliminate extraneous noise, allowing you to fully enjoy this “spa for your brain.”
3. SD Card with 45 minutes anticipated music (2-18Hz)
4. Built in Music Player (in the iMRS)
5. Fully synchronized with every "iMRS - whole body mat application"
The iMRS 2000 has an iGuide for practitioners with a Built in Database of 250 health conditions and pre-programmed settings for the full body mat, pillow and probe.
This helps practitioners (and customers) to get the exact settings they need for most common health conditions. So all the research proven protocols are at the tip of your fingers. The Bemer does not have this.
iMRS Complete with iSLRS light and sound has equal number of components to Bemer Pro. Both have Control unit, two applicators and one LED system.
iMRS Costs $5264.00, Bemer $5990.
(iMRS $726.00 LESS than Bemer for Comparable System)
Both systems have a control unit, full body mat and one local applicator.IMRS basic unit is only $3775. Bemer is $4290
(iMRS $515 LESS for comparable system)
This is comparing comparable systems, apples to apples. Both iMRS and Bemer offer even more accessories but in each case of comparisons, the iMRS comes out $500 - $700 less when comparing comparable packages. Plus iMRS usually has promotions to FURTHER save you $400-$1000 or more. Become a member and you’ll receive notifications of our sales and promotions.
In this detailed comparison we have stuck with the facts as listed in both products company brochures and websites, and only the facts. If you look at both units BY THE NUMBERS and not emotionally based on rah rah rah meetings, marketing, propaganda, hype or MLM sales pitches , you will see the iMRS wins HANDILY in every way possible.
To Summarize: The iMRS 2000….
1) has a Better Range of Frequencies than Bemer
2) has a Better Range of Intensities than Bemer
3) has Better Biorhythm Frequencies for Daytime and Sleep
4) has More Proven Waveforms than Bemer
5) has Better coils in full body mat and applicators
6) has a Better LED system
7) has Biofeedback where Bemer has none
8) is a Better Price on all comparable packages
9) The iMRS 2000 is clearly the Better Choice
Research - The iMRS 2000 DOES have independent Research as can be found in the iMRS 2000.com membership area. There are THREE independent studies done with the MRS 2000/iMRS listed there as proof. Contact an expert at 800-900-5556 and they will send you even much more research done with the iMRS 2000 specifically.
Microcirculation - Also all the Bemer Research is done by Dr Klopp at the Microcirculation Institute. This is an institute owned by Dr Klopp and funded by Bemer. Bemer’s research is done by their own scientist, so beware of biased research and bogus comparisons done with iMRS 2000 on microcirculation.
NASA - Finally don’t believe all the hype with Bemer and NASA. The signature page Bemer reps are sharing is a framed signature that was once on the Bemer website. Interestingly it was removed from Bemer’s site, probably because NASA forced them to remove it. Otherwise, why would you take down your most shared piece of marketing information. It is true that Bemer is involved with NASA in their space agreement act but they are not being compensated or funded by NASA at all. You can see this for yourself on the NASA website. https://www.nssc.nasa.gov/saa. Click on List of Agreements with Domestic Entities.
